I am currently a Principal Systems Design Engineer at RedHat leading the Engineering Improvements initiative for our Managed Application Services division. My primary goal here is to ensure our many development teams are running at their optimum. Easier said that done! Team dynamics and team development is one of my passions and this fits perfectly with my current role.

I also have a deep interest in the area of coaching. I am currently studying for my ICF Associated Certified Coach accreditation. Coaching is a very important skill when trying to make improvements with both individuals and teams.

I previously filled a Business Systems Analyst at Sun Life Financial based in Waterford, Ireland; where he worked in the area of requirements elicitation and system design around the advancement of Sun Life products.

Prior to the above, I worked at the Telecommunication Software and Systems Group (TSSG) of Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) for more than 7 years. As a Project Manager I led a number of tasks in the EU funded INFINITY project as part of the FI-PPP program. INFINITY investigated the ICT enabled infrastructures around Europe which were open to investigation and provided an insight into how these infrastructures could become sustainable. I led and coordinated the roadmapping task in the INFINITY project.
As a Senior Research Engineer, I was central to the InNetwork Management WorkPackage of EU ICT 4WARD project which investigated a novel paradigm for managing networks in the Future Internet. Previous to 4WARD, I worked on the MORE project which looked at developing a Service Orientated based architecture for a middleware for group communication and resource sharing across heterogeneous embedded systems.

Previous to TSSG, I worked as a Senior Software Engineer for Ericsson Expertise Ltd, Athlone, Ireland for 8 years. I worked in various roles over this period from technical lead, systems responsible, senior developer and maintenance support. The main product area where he worked was the Operation and Support System for Radio and CORE (OSS-RC), which is a comprehensive domain manager for Ericsson’s network infrastructure.
